Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix(2007)

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger enter their fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The wizarding community has shunned Harry and Albus Dumbledore, head of Hogwarts, who claim that Lord Voldemort has, after 14 years, regained a body and been restored to full power, and are instead influenced by the propaganda of The Daily Prophet and the intentional ignorance of the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. Fudge appoints a new Hogwarts Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge, who begins to steadily take over Hogwarts through the support of the Ministry.

Harry, Ron and Hermione immediately dislike Umbridge, because she refuses to allow them to discuss the return of Voldemort, her detentions are painful and torturous, and because she teaches them inadequate, textbook lessons devoid of actual magic. Thus, "Dumbledore's Army" is founded, as an underground organisation with Harry as teacher to prepare twenty-seven of his schoolmates in case of a battle with Voldemort. Harry starts having dreams about what Voldemort is doing and saves Ron's dad, by seeing him being attacked in the Department of Mysteries by Nagini, Voldemort's pet snake. Harry then begins Occlumency lessons with Professor Snape to close his mind to the Dark Lord's penetrations in the event that Lord Voldemort should become aware of the connection between Harry Potter's mind and his own. A vision of Sirius Black being tortured by Lord Voldemort in the bowels of the Department of Mysteries prompts Harry to launch a rescue attempt."

The film has several connections to the American version of The Office. In addition, Kwapis has directed nine episodes of The Office, including the pilot.

Though she has found her lifetime companion in Ben Murphy (John Krasinski), Sadie is distressed to learn that St. Augustine's has only one wedding slot available over the next two years. While Sadie and Ben do qualify for the slot, the church's eccentric minister, Reverend Frank (Robin Williams), won't wed the couple until they agree to attend his three-week prenuptial course. Now as their wedding date draws near, Sadie and Ben must attend every one of Reverend Frank's unusual classes and complete a series of homework assignments designed specifically to irritate one another—in order to get past past puppy love and ensure that their union will have a sound foundation.

Sicko (2007)

"In the film, Moore states that the United States is the only industrialized nation that does not offer free basic health care to all of its citizens. The American system is compared to those of Canada, the United Kingdom and France, which have universal health care for their citizens.

In Canada, Moore speaks to his relatives and other Canadians about their health care system. He is then told about the contribution to the Canadian health system by Tommy Douglas, who was voted the Greatest Canadian in 2004. Moore then goes to a Canadian public hospital to interview a microsurgeon and people in the Emergency waiting room.

In the United Kingdom, Moore discovers that all pharmaceuticals are free of charge if younger than 16 and older than 60, and for everyone else they are subsidized so only a maximum of ₤6.65 is charged (reported as approximately US$10 in the movie but this figure can fluctuate depending on the exchange rate). When in a National Health Service (NHS) hospital, Moore attempts to find out about British patients' in-hospital expenses, only to be told laughingly that there are no out-of-pocket payments. He eventually finds a counter labeled "Cashier", only to learn that low-income patients actually receive money there to reimburse their trip to the hospital. This segment also includes interviews with British former Member of Parliament Tony Benn, an NHS general practitioner and an American woman residing in Great Britain.

In France, Moore interviews the head of O&G Department of a French hospital, and then a group of Americans living in France. He also rides along with a 24-hour French house-call medical service SOS Médecins in which a doctor makes visits to patients' homes, taking dispatch calls like a taxi driver.[6] Moore further learns that French government provides social services so far as to provide day care for $1 a day and do laundry for new mothers, as part of their job of providing neonatal support. He then interviews the local middle class to find out about the impact on their life due to heavier taxation to fund the universal health care system."

Ratatouille (2007)

"Rémy (Patton Oswalt) lives in a rat colony in the attic of a French country home with his brother Émile (Peter Sohn) and father Django (Brian Dennehy). Unlike his kin, Rémy is a gourmet whose keen sense of smell is used by the colony only to detect rat poison in food. But Rémy yearns for more, sneaking into the kitchen to read the cookbook of his hero, Parisian chef Auguste Gusteau (Brad Garrett), who appears to Rémy in visions throughout the film to expound on his motto that "anyone can cook." Rémy learns that Gusteau died after a harsh review from mean-spirited food critic Anton Ego (Peter O'Toole)."

The rats flee the house when the resident, an old woman, discovers the colony. Rémy, separated from the others, floats in the storm drains to Paris on Gusteau's cookbook, following the chef's image to his namesake restaurant, now run by former sous-chef Skinner (Ian Holm). As Rémy watches from a kitchen skylight, Alfredo Linguini (Lou Romano), a young man with no culinary talent, arrives and is hired on at the request of his recently deceased mother to do janitorial duties. The boy, unknown to all but his mother, Renata, is in fact Gusteau's son. Linguini spills a pot of soup and attempts to cover up his mistake by adding nearby random ingredients. Horrified by Linguini's actions, Rémy falls into the kitchen and though desperately trying to escape, cannot help but stop and attempt to fix the ruined soup. Rémy is caught in the act by Linguini, who himself is caught by Skinner as he captures the rat, but not before some of the soup has been served. To everyone's surprise, the soup is a success. The kitchen's sole woman cook, Colette (Janeane Garofalo), convinces Skinner not to fire Linguini provided he can recreate the soup. And thus begins an alliance, uneasy at first, by which Rémy secretly directs Linguini. The two perfect a marionette-like arrangement by which Rémy tugs at Linguini's hair to control his movements and stays hidden under Linguini's toque blanche."

1408 (2007)

"Mike Enslin (Cusack) is a skeptic and writer, authoring books debunking supernatural occurrences. After completing research for his next book, Mike receives an anonymous postcard of the Dolphin Hotel, bearing the message "don't enter 1408." Viewing this as a challenge, Enslin attempts to book a reservation in room 1408, only to discover that no matter what date he requests the room is "not available." However, after Mike's agent Sam Farrel (Shalhoub) and his in-house lawyer find that the Fair Housing Act requires hotels to rent unoccupied rooms, the Dolphin gives Mike a reservation for room 1408.

Arriving at the Dolphin, Mike is pulled aside by the hotel's manager, Gerald Olin (Jackson). Olin warns Mike that no one has lasted more than an hour in 1408 and urges him not to stay in the room, offering an upgrade to the penthouse suite, access to documents regarding the 56 deaths which have occurred in 1408, and an $800 bottle of vintage 1939 "Les Cinquante Sept Deces" ("The 57 deaths") cognac. Despite accepting the documents and the cognac, Mike insists on staying in the room; Olin reluctantly gives him the key, escorts him to the 14th floor, but refuses to leave the elevator, leaving Mike to lead himself to 1408.

Once inside the room, Mike pulls out his handheld tape recorder and begins to dictate, remarking on the unremarkability of 1408 as he examines it. His dictation is interrupted as the clock radio aburptly starts blaring We've Only Just Begun by The Carpenters. Shutting off the radio, Mike finds two chocolates have appeared on the now freshly made bed and also discovers that a toilet paper roll he had recently used is neatly folded. Assuming Olin or his employees are responsible, Mike searches the room but finds no one else inside.

Sitting on the bed with a small glass of cognac, Enslin is startled as the clock radio begins to blare We've Only Just Begun again. When he turns the radio off, the display flickers and changes to read "60:00", then starts counting down from 60 minutes. Suddenly Mike is unable to hear anything, and he goes to the window to check his hearing. As he looks away, the window slams down, cutting a large gash in the top of his hand. His hearing returns at this point. Attempting to clean the wound in the bathroom, Mike turns on the taps only to be hit by a sudden torrent of very hot water and steam. Leaving the bathroom, Mike bandages the wound with a bandana from his bag. The phone suddenly rings in the living room, and Enslin answers. The front desk calls to tell him that his kitchen order is 10 minutes delayed. Enslin shouts that he wants to checkout and needs a cab to the nearest hospital, only to receive non sequitur replies from the operator concerning room service and dry cleaning. Mike then attempts to leave the room only to have the key break off in the door and be sucked inside the lock. He is now trapped inside 1408."

Ocean's Thirteen (2007)

"Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and the gang would have only one reason to pull off their most ambitious and riskiest casino heist—to defend one of their own. But they’re going to need more than luck on their side to break The Bank.
Ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino) never imagined that the odds were against him when he double-crossed Danny Ocean’s friend and mentor Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould), putting the distraught Reuben in a hospital bed in critical condition.

But Bank miscalculated…badly. He may have taken down one of the original Ocean’s eleven, but he left the others standing and, worse for him, gave them a shared purpose: to take Bank down on the night of what should be his greatest triumph—the grand opening of his new casino, appropriately named The Bank.
Their strategy is twofold. First they will ruin him financially by turning the tables on the precept that the house always wins. But that’s just money. The knockout punch will be to Bank’s personal pride and joy: his reputation as the only hotelier who has earned the Royal Review Board’s Five Diamond Award on every single one of his hotels.

The plan is elaborate, dangerous and damn near impossible…but there are no limits when it comes to one of their own"

In response, the pirate lords comprising the Brethren Court are summoned to convene at Shipwreck Island. However, the late Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirate Lord of the Caribbean, died without a successor, and therefore must be present. Captain Hector Barbossa leads Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Tia Dalma and the Black Pearl crew to Davy Jones' Locker to fetch Jack. They need the navigational charts leading to World's End, the gateway to the Locker, charts belonging to Sao Feng, Pirate Lord of the South China Sea. In Singapore, Elizabeth and Barbossa bargain with Feng for a ship and a crew, but he refuses. Feng has a personal debt to settle with Jack and is furious that Will attempted to steal the charts from his revered uncle's temple. Just then, East India Trading Company soldiers attack Feng's bathhouse. During the chaos, Will secretly bargains with Feng for the Black Pearl in exchange for Jack. Will wants the Black Pearl to rescue his father from the Flying Dutchman.

The crew journey through a frozen sea. Reaching World's End, they sail over an enormous waterfall and into Davy Jones' Locker. There, Jack is aboard the Black Pearl, surrounded by desert and suffering hallucinations. To his amazement, strange crabs appear and carry the Pearl to an ocean where he is reunited with his former shipmates, although Jack and Barbossa continually bicker over who is the Pearl's captain. While seeking an escape route the crew sees souls adrift under the water. Tia Dalma explains that Davy Jones was appointed by his lover, the sea goddess Calypso, to ferry those who died at sea to the next world. In return, Jones could step upon land for one day every ten years to be with her. But when Calypso failed to meet him, the scorned captain abandoned his duty and transformed into a monster. Elizabeth then sees her father, Weatherby Swann's soul pass by in a dinghy, murdered by Beckett after discovering that whoever slays Davy Jones by destroying his heart replaces him as the Flying Dutchman's immortal captain. Spider man 3 (2007)

"Peter Parker has begun to feel secure in his life and plans to propose to Mary Jane. One night in a park, while Peter and Mary Jane are on a date, a small meteorite crashes nearby, and an alien symbiote oozes out, attaching itself to Peter's moped. Meanwhile, escaped convict Flint Marko falls into a particle accelerator which transforms him into a shape shifting sand manipulator. Peter's best friend, Harry Osborn, who seeks vengeance for his father's death, which he believes Peter caused, attacks him. The battle leaves Harry with short-term amnesia, making him forget his vendetta.

Later, during a festival honoring Spider-Man for saving Gwen Stacy’s life, Marko attempts to rob an armored car, and overpowers Spider-Man. Captain Stacy later informs Peter and Aunt May that Marko is the one who killed Ben Parker, and a vengeful Peter waits for Marko to strike again. The symbiote bonds with his costume while he is asleep; Peter discovers that not only has his costume changed, but his powers have been enhanced as well. The black suit also alters Peter's personality, making him more violent, exemplified by a near lethal attack on Marko during a battle underground.

Affected by the suit, Peter exposes and humiliates Eddie Brock, Jr., a rival photographer at the Daily Bugle, who sells fake pictures of Spider-Man. The shift in Peter's personality alienates Mary Jane, whose stage career is floundering, and she finds solace in Harry. Harry then recovers from his amnesia and forces MJ to break up with Peter. After Mary Jane leaves Peter, stating she is in love with another man, Harry meets him at a restaurant and claims to be the other man. Later, Peter finds him at the Osborn mansion. With the help of the black suit, Peter is victorious in a brutal fight, which leaves Harry's face disfigured.

In an effort to make MJ jealous, Peter brings Gwen to the nightclub where Mary Jane works and gets into a fight. In the scuffle, he accidentally knocks MJ to the floor. Peter realizes the symbiote-suit is changing him for the worse. He runs out of the nightclub and goes to a church bell tower to be rid of it. Initially he is unable to pull the suit off, but the sound waves from the church bells weaken the symbiote, freeing Peter. Eddie Brock is at the same church, praying for Peter’s death, and the symbiote falls from the tower and takes over his body. The newly powered Eddie finds Marko and suggests that they join forces to destroy Spider-Man."

The Last Mimzy (2007)

"Loosely adapted from the acclaimed 1943 science fiction short story, Mimsy Were the Borogoves, by Lewis Padgett (the pseudonym of husband and wife team Henry Kuttner and C. L. Moore), The Last Mimzy centers on two children, Noah (Chris O'Neil) and Emma (Rhiannon Leigh Wryn) Wilder. Their lives are changed when they encounter a mysterious box containing strange devices, presumed to be toys.

Presented as a flashback, The Last Mimzy is the story of a distant future's attempt to prevent, through time travel, a catastrophic ecological disaster that has destroyed their world. High tech devices, masquerading as toys, are sent back in time into the hands of Noah and Emma. The children and their parents, Jo (Joely Richardson) and David (Timothy Hutton), live in early 21st century Seattle. The "toys" are mostly incomprehensible to Emma and Noah, except for what appears to be a stuffed rabbit. Sensing the strangeness of the devices, the children initially keep their discovery a secret from their parents.

Interaction with the devices causes the children to develop increased intelligence and psychic capabilities, including teleportation, the ability to communicate with spiders, telepathy, telekinesis, and levitation. Emma becomes emotionally attached to the rabbit (Mimzy), from whom she learns how to further operate the devices. The children's unusual abilities and Emma's obsessive attachment to Mimzy soon alert their parents to the devices. Also, a power black-out of the entire Pacific northwest caused by the toys alerts the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to their activities as well. The family is held for questioning, and it is revealed that Mimzy is actually an advanced form of artificial life utilizing nanotechnology. Mimzy has brought a message from humanity's future, where pollution has nearly destroyed the world. Many rabbits like Mimzy were sent to the past, and Mimzy is the only one remaining. Mimzy explains that they must use the toys to return it to the future with uncorrupted 21st century DNA, which can be used to stop pollutants from causing the ecological disaster.

Despite attempts by an unbelieving FBI to hinder them, Noah and Emma use their psychic powers to escape with Mimzy and are able to initiate the time transport so Mimzy can return to the future. Fortunately, Mimzy carries with it a tear from Emma, thus providing the pure DNA required to prevent the disaster. In the new future Emma is revered as the "mother" of all the present generations, and the children in the future exhibit the same psychic gifts that Emma had developed."

Breach (2007)

"Eric O'Neill is a junior FBI employee hoping that his surveillance work on counterterrorism will earn him a promotion to agent when he is given a special assignment. While undercover as a clerk, he is to monitor Robert Hanssen, a senior agent whom he is told is suspected of being a sexual deviant. Hanssen had been recalled to FBI headquarters ostensibly to head up a new division specializing in Information Assurance.

At first, Hanssen insists on a strict formality between them with O'Neill calling Hanssen "sir" or "boss" and O'Neill referred to only as "clerk". Hanssen frequently rails against the hidebound bureaucracy of the FBI. He complains that only those who regularly "shoot guns" are considered for senior positions instead of those, like him, who are involved in vital national security matters. He calls the bureau's information technology systems antiquated and laments the lack of coordination and information exchange with other intelligence agencies."

The Messengers (2007)

"At the movie's beginning, a frightened woman is with her son, telling him that he has to be strong and that everything is going to be okay. She hears something coming towards the door and makes her son hide under the bed. The door bursts open and something throws the woman against the wall. The son, terrified, runs out of the room and into his sister, who is also scared. She grabs him and runs down the stairs. The boy hides under a table, but his sister is caught and dragged away, down into the cellar. The boy runs into the kitchen and hides in a cabinet, but he is soon found and killed as well.

Five years later, a new family is moving into the house from the city, hoping to start a sunflower farm. The main character, and daughter in the family, Jess Solomon (Kristen Stewart), is angry about having to move away from her friends. Previous to the movie, she had been driving drunk with her younger brother, Ben, a toddler at the time. In her intoxicated state, she caused an accident and since then Ben has been mute. However, her brother sees things the other people cannot... the ghosts of the family killed in the movie's opening scenes. To round out the characters, Jess' father, Roy, hires a man by the name of John Burwell to work on the farm.

Ominous events gradually build. First, the house always seems to have crows flying around it; some crows even attack Roy. Then, Jess has an encounter with one of the ghosts, the mother, in the closet. She calls 911 and the authorities come, only to find a terrified Jess. The police dismiss it as a false alarm and Jess' parents do not believe her either. While Ben saw what happened, being very young and mute he cannot confirm her story. Only Burwell supports her, as well as a teenage boy from town, Bobby, whom Jess befriends. Jess and Ben have more encounters with the ghosts haunting the house and Jess acquires some scars and bruises from one of them. Her parents think that her wounds are self-inflicted because she wants to leave the house, her life there being so much different from her old one, and will not believe her that ghosts are haunting it. Because her parents don't believe her tensions rise and Jess becomes determined to fix things."

Partition (2007)

"Partition, a name which resembles India’s division 60 years back. Well known Canadian director Vic Sarin has projected Partition as love story which stimulates amidst the cries of hatred and fear, set during the partition of India in 1947.

In the last few years, Indian cinema has witnessed some good movies made on the similar theme. Some of them being Veer Zaara, Gadar and Pinjar. Likewise, Partition focuses on the love story and not on the politics related to the nation. The film’s plot draws huge similarity from Anil Sharma’s Gadar.

The plot initiates with the arrival of Gian Singh, a Sikh soldier from the World War II. Gian served in Burma for 5 years and fought for the British. Gian heads to his village in Punjab and aloofs himself from the bloodshed. He now leads a peaceful life that of a farmer. "
